With Katy's parents blessing, Dave planned a picture perfect proposal in a place very near and dear to Katy's heart: Harbor Springs, Michigan. Katy thought she and Dave were headed Up North for a weekend getaway, but Dave had other plans.
On a Friday night in November 2012, Dave took Katy for an evening stroll through town and stopped at the historic fountain in the middle of the public park. The fountain is particularly sentimental as this was the place where Dave first proclaimed his love for "Sweet Kate" when they began dating. To Katy's complete surprise, Dave dropped to bended knee just before sunset and asked her to marry him. Overjoyed, Katy said yes and the pair walked hand in hand to Holy Childhood Catholic Church to find yet another surprise: Katy and Dave's entire family waiting anxiously to celebrate the happy couple!
